WHO CAN GET TATTOOED?

California law requires a person to be at least 18 years of age to legally get a tattoo. A valid state ID, license, military ID, or passport is required to get tattooed.

PENAL CODE - PEN

PART 1. OF CRIMES AND PUNISHMENTS [25 - 680.4]

  ( Part 1 enacted 1872. )

TITLE 15. MISCELLANEOUS CRIMES [626 - 653.75]

  ( Title 15 enacted 1872. )

CHAPTER 2. Of Other and Miscellaneous Offenses [639 - 653.2]

  ( Chapter 2 enacted 1872. )

653.

Every person who tattoos or offers to tattoo a person under the age of 18 years is guilty of a misdemeanor.

As used in this section, to “tattoo” means to insert pigment under the surface of the skin of a human being, by pricking with a needle or otherwise, so as to produce an indelible mark or figure visible through the skin.

This section is not intended to apply to any act of a licensed practitioner of the healing arts performed in the course of his practice.

TATTOO APPOINTMENT PROCESS

1. Fill out the questionnaire on our contact page.
2. Be prepared to be contacted via email to schedule a consultation with your artist. We require a consultation, prior to all appointments. This is a way for your artist to meet with you, and discuss your tattoo ideas. From there, your artist will be able to create a custom piece that you will both be happy with.
3. At your consultation, a date for your appointment will be scheduled, and a deposit will be required.

CONSULTATION, DEPOSIT, AND PRICING

- Every appointment must have a consultation prior to booking.
- After filling out the questionnaire, you will be contacted via email to book your consultation.
- Expect your consultation to run for about an hour to an hour and a half.
- You will not be charged for your consultation.
- A deposit is required for all tattoo appointments.
- Your deposit goes towards your tattoo session.
- If you need to reschedule your appointment, a 48 hour notice is required, or your deposit is forfeited.
- Deposits are non refundable.
- Your artist will charge an hourly rate from the start time of your tattoo, to the end time of your tattoo.

APPOINTMENT INFORMATION AND PREPARATION

- Please be sure to eat! Eating before you get tattooed is important to stabilize your blood sugar during your tattoo time.

- Drink lots of water. Hydration is always important.

- Feel free to bring snacks, water, etc. to your appointment. Especially if you will be having a long session.

- Keep in mind the area you will be getting tattooed, and be sure to wear appropriate clothing.

- Drugs and alcohol will not be tolerated. If you come in drunk, or high, you will be rescheduled.

- Do not drink the day/night before your appointment. Getting tattooed hung over is very unpleasant for you, and your artist.

- Please be mindful of your activities around a week or so, prior to your tattoo appointment. Sunburned skin, skin with rashes, cuts, or bruises, or in anyway unhealthy skin cannot be tattooed, and your appointment will have to be rescheduled.

AFTERCARE

- You will be provided with aftercare instructions, in which your artist will go over with you.
- Your tattoo will take approximately three weeks to heal.

- It is absolutely crucial that you follow the instructions of your artist for your tattoo to properly heal.

- It is important to understand, the ink begins degrading and losing its brightness from the moment it is introduced into your body, and each tattoo heals differently depending on the person, and location of the tattoo.

- Touch up appointments are common, and usually needed.

- You will not be charged for your touch up appointment.

- Tattoos naturally fade over time. Always put sunscreen (SPF 45 or higher) on them to keep the colors bright as possible, and moisturizing daily is also helpful.
